*** cityscouter.com travel guides earned first place in connect magazine’s test of 12 travel guides, beating the likes of Marco Polo, Merian Scout and Beeloop! ***

There are many travel guides available for the iPhone/iPad, but here is what sets cityscouter.com guides apart from the rest:

•Designed to be used OFFLINE. All articles, events, maps and transport can be viewed without an internet connection.
•An up-to-date events guide: Update when you have an internet connection, and hundreds of upcoming events such as concerts, theatre, sporting events, festivals and more will be stored on your device. Updates occur regularly so your guide will never be behind.
•Fully zoomable, offline maps that shows your location and points of interest around you (your location is shown on the map). If a travel guide doesn’t have a map, it’s as good as useless.
•Professionally written content by locals who know the city well, and not just content taken from Wikipedia like so many other guides.
•All major transport lines and stations are stored in the guide. You can view the lines/stations on a map, or find the nearest station to you or any attractions with just a few taps.
•Hundreds of points of interest (all searchable) detailing attractions, museums, hotels, bars and cafes, nightlife and more with opening hours, pictures and prices.
•Add your own points of interest and plan your trip with the itinerary builder.
•Live hotel booking that compares multiple hotel providers to ensure that you always get the best deal.
•Full iPad compatibility as well as iPhone and iPod Touch.
•English, German, French and Japanese languages are supported (event section is mostly in English).

Read below for more information:

The cityscouter.com Washington DC travel guide is the perfect companion during your time in the city. It is designed to be used offline so you can avoid expensive roaming fees.

Our guides are professionally written and have a huge amount of information about everything this city has to offer. Using your device’s location services, you can also always see what points of interest are around you at any time.

The events guide includes hundreds of upcoming events, and is regularly updated. Just click the update button when you have an internet connection, and the events will be stored on your device for offline use.

Not only do we have information on hundreds of hotels, but you can check availability and even book online if you haven’t yet found accommodation (internet connection required). The travel guide scours the internet and compares multiple providers of hotels to ensure that you always get the best price.

The most important thing to figure out when you arrive in a new city is the transport system. That’s why we’ve included information on all major transport points and lines. These are all viewable on a map, and the "Nearby stations" feature makes it easy to determine where the closest transport is to your current location.

Other features include the built in currency converter (converts 45 of the world’s top currencies), a "Want to visit" list where you can mark the attractions you want to see, and a review/notes section.

Florence, the gateway to Tuscany, has few peers, even among the nearly infinite wonders of Italy. Written by Tuscany travel expert Leif Pettersen, this highly interactive guide (with full in-app offline functionality, eliminating data roaming charges) directs you to dozens of the city's best sights and activities, as well as over 60 eating & drinking options and over 40 sleeping options.

Florence's accolades include the greatest collection of Italian Renaissance art in the world, the most famous sculpture in the world, one of the greatest cathedrals in the world, a bridge so beautiful that even Hitler (allegedly) could not bring himself to destroy it and some seriously toe-curling gelato. Additionally, there's the exceptional cuisine, energized nightlife, a youthful, international array of residents and a rather overwhelming number of visitors. In short, it's among the world's most beguiling and rewarding historic cities - and you'll be in good company.

Florence Explorer contains Leif's exhaustive, honest advice and the most comprehensive coverage of sights, activities, eating, sleeping and drinking options of any app currently available, all presented on the acclaimed Sutro travel app platform, renowned for being user-friendly and rich in online and offline options.

★ Best of SF from Bridge to Ballpark...and beyond! ★

Explore the most exciting part of San Francisco: its world-famous waterfront! Dine at a Michelin-starred restaurant, ride a cable car halfway to the stars, see Alcatraz from inside a cell, cheer on the World Series-winning SF Giants, stroll across the Golden Gate Bridge, eat a just-caught crab at Fisherman’s Wharf...

You could only be on the San Francisco waterfront.

So if you’re planning to visit San Francisco for business or pleasure — or even as an armchair traveler — you’ll want this definitive guide to the city’s most popular destination: its waterfront.

♦♦ ENJOY SAN FRANCISCO FROM ALCATRAZ TO THE YODA FOUNTAIN ♦♦
• Let a pro show you how to crack crab on Fisherman’s Wharf (via video).
• Find and photograph a 40-foot-tall dancing nude, with the San Francisco skyline as a backdrop.

• Decide between relaxing in a rickshaw, hopping a ferry, joining a walking tour, riding a cable car, or kayaking on the Bay.
• Free downloads: San Francisco bike and hiking maps, Accessibility Guides, and a wealth of other helpful info.

♦♦ WHAT REAL-LIFE APP USERS ARE SAYING ♦♦
• Brilliant! All my favorite spots are covered plus some new little goodies to explore.
• I bought this app and I love it. Lots of interesting stuff to read, useful links, distance to each site, button to call a cab, etc. Very functional and clever.

★ Best Travel Destinations Down Under ★

This is the definitive guide to all the best places & authentic experiences across Australia from the outback to the beach, from its casually confident cities to its ancient indigenous culture.

It offers insider tips on how to engage with Australia’s remarkable landscapes, its idiosyncratic locals & its utterly bizarre wildlife.

It is NOT YOUR TYPICAL APP:
* It is opinionated, jam-packed with info & pragmatic advice you won’t find elsewhere.
* It is a big app for a big continent, but it is not encyclopaedic. Rather it distils the best. Once a destination has made the cut, it gives you everything you need to enjoy it.
* It actually contains MINI APPS WITHIN THE APP. Many entries cover entire regions with bullet points on what to do, where to stay, eat & drink.
* When a resort, restaurant, or individual adventure is outstanding it gets its own entry with in-depth opinions on how best to enjoy it.

A few mechanics:
• I have organised entries by a range of tags, including States, On the Water, Outback, Luxury and more. Don’t miss the Hidden Gems!
• There are heaps of hyperlinks to videos & websites for more info.
• Under hours, I give opening hours PLUS the best season to visit. Australia's contrary Southern Hemisphere seasons can be confusing for visitors from the Northern Hemisphere.

Finally, I have avoided overly commercial destinations, which you can easily find with generic guides (or just follow the tourist crowd).
The App will be updated regularly (at no extra charge) as more great destinations emerge.

★ The complete guide to GTNP & Jackson ★

Don't miss a thing in Jackson Hole or Grand Teton National Park.

Bigger than New York City (counting all five boroughs, of course) and Washington D.C. combined, Grand Teton National Park could take a lifetime to explore. But what do you do when your time frame is limited? What's not to miss? Where's the best hike? How should you go about finding buffalo? Is there a difference between a buffalo and a bison? Which campground is best for you?

And what about the towns around the park?

Although its population is only about 9,000 people, Jackson is surprisingly amenity rich. Where's the best dessert in town? The best place to treat yourself? How much is a round of golf at Dick Cheney's golf club? Where should you stay?

Even if you're just driving through, use this app to see what's hiding in the park's lodgepole and aspen forests, high alpine tundras, and granite crags ... and why the breakfast at Jenny Lake Lodge is worth a detour off the main highway. Or to learn about Jackson's history. (Did you know Jackson was the country's first town to have an all-female government?)

Award-winning travel writer Dina Mishev has lived in Jackson for 14 years. She began researching and exploring Grand Teton National Park her second day in the valley. She shares nearly 200 of her favorites in Jackson Hole, including almost 100 activities and places in Grand Teton National Park: easy hikes, historical facts, backcountry campsites, restaurants, cafes, lodges, outfitters, climbs, views, and a bar that serves up a platter of nachos as big as a baby bison. You'll find Dina's recommendations for places to stay and eat in Jackson as well as activities you shouldn't miss.

Use the handy maps to find a collection of activities in one area. See the map distance from your current location to your desired activity. If you're short on time, check out Dina's "Top 10," which might have a few more than 10 entries. Beyond that, you'll find recommendations for driving tours, restaurants, camping, kids, fishing and boating, hiking and climbing, wildlife watching, and more. All activities are assigned to a neighborhood (southern park, Jackson, Moran, Teton Village).

If Dina's pithy and insightful description leaves you intrigued, a further website reference is included. If there's a cost (in addition to the park's entrance fee for those activities and experiences inside GTNP) it is noted, as are hours and seasonal closures.

★ About the Author ★

Dina Mishev is an award-winning travel, sports, and lifestyle writer who would most likely have become a lawyer had she not moved to Jackson, Wyoming to be a ski bum for a year immediately after college. Within two weeks of her arrival, Dina knew a year wouldn't be enough. And that lawyering wouldn't be nearly as exciting as writing about her new home. It's been 14 years now and she's still living and writing in Jackson and playing in Grand Teton National Park in all seasons.

To see more of Dina's writing on Grand Teton National Park and Jackson Hole, as well as other beautiful places around the world, you can go to dinamishev.com. To see Dina, you can go to Dornan’s (summer) or Blu Kitchen (winter). She’ll be the tall brunette with the big smile and either a margarita (Dornan’s) or burger (Blu) in her hand.
